In June 2018, we published an article "Turkish import — the last nail in the coffin of Ukrainian light industry". In it they talked about the project of the abolition of customs duties on imported Turkish products of light industry. We were lucky — signatures were collected, and then nothing happened, but the situation repeats...
And here again started the "battle of the forces of good against the forces of common sense." I want to repeat the question that was set 103 years ago this stupidity or betrayal? But I will not, now the pathos is not in fashion.
Suppose the "best" situation is foolish. People just don't understand that by opening the borders for cheap imports, they will destroy their own economy. Not obvious to everyone that the abolition of duties will hit the budget of OUR country. Do not realize that after six months or a year after the adoption of the project 40% of businesses will close their shops, and another 40% will remember the 90s and is completely gone in shadow, and the rest will die out like dinosaurs in the ice age. Not much rainbow, really?
Why? Because ready-made Turkish products are cheaper than the cost of tailoring in Ukraine! Not to mention the salaries seamstresses, taxes, and payment of taxes.

Duties — protection business.
Cancellation fees will leave our light industry with no pants due to the dumping prices on the import. Imagine a Boxing match between champion Tyson fury and student arrester from the district sections. What is the likely outcome? How many chances a student? Our economy — not more.
Quoting official data, Turkey ranks the 2nd place in Ukraine for the import of industrial products (after China). Last year the volume of import has increased by half and reached almost 300 million$. Import of finished knitted products have increased even more — by 3.2 times, textile manufacturing – by 2.5 times, Shoe – 2.8 times.
During this same time, the decline of our production was 9.9%, exports fell by 2.7%.
I want to ask a question to the readers – entrepreneurs of light industry: "Once the private economy of Ukraine does not need, maybe, put together a team and go together to Poland to work?" For example, I can work as a mechanic, salesman, PR man, is familiar to entrepreneurs, who were tailors and fashion designers, seamstresses, too. A good team will earn more there than we are here, competing with Turkey...
So, back to our sheep (who do not understand that are ruining the country). Turkish products is from 40 to 70% of imported goods in different groups in Ukraine.
Why? Because they have automation and complete cycle of its own production, as well as state support and protectionism to aggressive Chinese do not claim to own the Turkish market.

Of course, the "superstrong" Ukraine's economy protectionism is not needed, and so we all win, but still.
